Proudly Serving the Lower Mainland

Getting your heat pump ready for winter starts with a few simple checks. For homeowners in Port Coquitlam, Coquitlam and Port Moody, checking airflow and outdoor clearance before colder weather arrives is a useful place to start.

1. Check the air filter

Follow your equipment manual when checking, cleaning or replacing filters. Different systems use different filters, so use the type and maintenance schedule specified for your unit.

2. Keep air moving freely

Keep indoor vents clear of furniture. Outside, check for leaves, vegetation or snow restricting airflow. Follow the manufacturer’s clearance requirements and keep access available for servicing.

3. Review the thermostat setting

BC Hydro recommends selecting Heat for winter and Cool for summer instead of Auto. Check your controller instructions if you are unsure which setting applies to your system.

4. Arrange maintenance for your system

Use the maintenance schedule in your equipment manual. If comfort has changed or the system needs attention, describe what you have noticed when booking service.
